Further date added to free MasterClass tour!
The Programme recently took to the road to deliver a series of workforce modernisation MasterClasses.
The events have been fully subscribed and due to popular demand a further date has been added - Tuesday 16 December 2008.
The MasterClass explores the Programme's structured and integrated method for sustainable business improvement and explains how it stands apart from other reform.
The Government's policing Green Paper firmly focused the spotlight on workforce mix and the MasterClass provides an opportunity for force and BCU management teams to fast-track learning and evaluate options in the context of increasing demand.

Demonstration sites inform the PACE Review
The Home Office PACE Review puts forward a number of workforce modernisation proposals which have arisen as a result of our work with demonstration site forces. In summary these are:
- Extension of designated staff powers beyond the home force.
- Administrative arrest within a police station by Investigating Officers.
- Investigating Officers to be given the power to issue a PND in cases where a person has been arrested and interviewed in custody for an offence of retail theft.
- Designated staff to manage certain Registered Sex Offenders (RSO)
The aim the Review is to establish from stakeholders, practitioners and the public whether the Act and accompanying Codes of Practice remain appropriate, proportionate and relevant to the criminal justice system in the 21st century.
Programme Director Derek Mann said: "We believe consultation with forces has identified wider opportunities for police staff to contribute positively to front line policing alongside and in support of police officers. These opportunities allow police officers to really focus on areas where they will achieve maximum impact, not least of which is the unique ability to use individual discretion".
The PACE consultation paper closes on 28 November 2008.
FREE Workforce Modernisation Master Class
The National Workforce Modernisation Programme invites force and BCU management teams to attend a FREE one day master class.
These events will take place in October and November and will demonstrate how the national programme can assist forces to improve core business processes and develop a workforce with the right skills, experience and powers to deliver world-class policing.
The Government Green Paper "From the neighbourhood to the national: Policing our communities together" proposes a major HMIC inspection on how forces are progressing in achieving the right workforce mix. Therefore now is an ideal time to engage with the national programme and explore more productive ways of working.
